Heirloom Tomatoes
Heirloom tomatoes are the real tomato that is a far cry from the ones we get from the produce market. These have the authentic tomato flavors that are lost in the more “tennis ball” type of tomatoes we see today. These seeds produce a vigorous vine where the heirloom tomatoes grow out of.
These organic tomato seeds are the garden grown tomatoes. They are not similar to the commercialized versions that are sold in the market. Since a lot of us love to use tomatoes in our everyday meal, we strongly advise that you select from different heirloom tomato varieties and grow your favorite in your own backyard. Not only will the tomatoes come out tasty and sweet, they will also be very nutritious and fresh!
A lot of people who have tasted this tomato have started buying heirloom tomato seeds to plant in their own gardens. They have chosen their favorite heirloom tomato based on what they want to eat the most. It is very easy to separate organic tomato seeds produce so their home garden will always have heirloom tomatoes. Some of them have even made it into a business by offering these seeds online – which means they have one or more tomato variety in their vegetable garden.
The collection of these tomato seeds are fairly easy to do. No matter how many times you collect them, the future generation seeds will still have the traits of the “original” seed because heirloom tomatoes usually self-pollinate. To collect them, simply pick ripe heirloom tomatoes, mash them in a jar filling it until it is almost half full. Then place water until it is full. Leave it to decompose but shake the jar from time to time. This shaking will cause the seeds to detach from the mashed tomato and will eventually fall to the bottom of the jar. This takes around 1-6 days to complete the process.
Heirloom tomato seeds must be decomposed to keep common diseases from transferring to the seed. It must be rinsed carefully while some of the liquid is drained continuously. The drying process is also important for germination purposes. Clean seeds are very easy to separate so follow these procedures careful.
